Dr. Oliveira is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, ON, Canada since August 2019. He finished his Ph.D. from the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) at the University of Ottawa, ON, Canada, in 2019. He obtained a master’s in Systems and Computing degree from the Military Institute of Engineering, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 2012. He completed a bachelor in Computer Science from the Federal University of Tocantins, Palmas, Brazil, in 2009.

Dr. Oliveira’s main research interests are in Haptics, Tactile Sensing and Perception, Human-Computer Interfaces, and Artificial Intelligence Applied to Mobile Robots. His current research activities are funded by NSERC. He was a recipient of the prestigious Ontario Trillium Scholarship when pursuing his Ph.D. Dr. Oliveira also worked as a Research Fellow on Virtual Environments at the National Laboratory for Scientific Computing in Petropolis, Brasil.
